Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, AOC, Pramila Jayapal, and tons of other
progressive leaders have endorsed Nida Allam for Congress in North
Carolina.
Later today, you can find out why first-hand. You don't want to miss this.
[ [link removed] ]RSVP here to meet Nida on Zoom at PCCC’s Meet the Candidates event and
ask her YOUR questions TODAY, May 12, at 7pm Eastern -- just 5 days before
voting ends in the North Carolina primary!
This event is free, but if you’re inspired by Nida, [ [link removed] ]please chip in $3
to her campaign here.
Nida is running in North Carolina’s 4th district. This seat opened up for
the first time in years when Democrat David Price announced his
retirement. If elected, Nida will be the youngest woman ever elected to
Congress at just 28 years old -- and the first Pakistani-American member.
It matters a great deal what kind of Democrat fills this seat -- and this
could be the last time it is open for many years.
Here's what Elizabeth Warren says of Nida:
"Nida Allam is the first Muslim woman elected to office in North Carolina.
She’s delivered real change -- like a $15 minimum wage for county workers
and property tax relief that helped families stay in their homes during
the pandemic. I’m happy to endorse her for Congress in #NC04."
And Bernie told PCCC members this about Nida in an email this past
weekend:
"The Democratic Corporate Establishment is spending a huge amount of money
trying to defeat strong, progressive women of color who are running for
Congress. Given the recent news about the Supreme Court's willingness to
overturn Roe v. Wade, we need these women in Congress more than ever.
"Nida is a long-time member of our movement, and served as a political
director on our 2016 campaign for president....Now she is ready to fight
for a progressive agenda in Congress."
Nida will FIGHT to enshrine Roe as the law of the land. After news broke
of the draft SCOTUS decision on Roe, Nida shared a photo and a personal
story of why she will fight:
“This picture was taken on the day of my abortion, when I ended my ectopic
pregnancy to save my life even though a viable pregnancy was everything
I'd ever wanted. When they come for our right to choose, they’re coming
for our right to our lives. We can’t let them take it."
