Dear friend,
I am thrilled to let you know that EWG is launching a major new initiative: The New Lede.

The New Lede is a nonprofit environmental news site with the goal of spotlighting underreported stories affecting the planet and public health.
Why are we launching The New Lede? In the mainstream media landscape, newsrooms are shrinking and a devotion to environmental reporting is scarce, particularly within regional and local newspapers. There are too many people unaware of the serious pollution issues their communities are facing.
At The New Lede, you can read about a Nebraska community facing drinking water poisoned by toxic pesticides, including neonicotinoids. Or read an interview with Rob Bilott, the lawyer who has led the fight to rid our environment of PFAS chemicals and hold polluters accountable.

These are the types of stories you can expect from The New Lede.
The New Lede will bring objectivity to its reporting and consider competing points of view but will never shy away from seeking the truth about threats to our natural resources and human health.
The editorial team is led by longtime investigative journalist and author Carey Gillam, who has spent 17 years as a senior correspondent for Reuters covering agriculture and its impacts on the environment.
