We’ll be blunt, John:

Today’s Senate vote to codify Roe v. Wade was set up to fail. Why? Because of the filibuster – an outdated tradition that Republicans have used to block basic human rights legislation for decades. That means the fight for access to safe and legal abortion, contraception, and bodily autonomy MUST be fought at the state level.

The good news: Emerge is working overtime to elect Democratic women to state houses across the country. Now, these alums are leading the charge to guarantee protections for our essential rights. Thanks to the efforts of Emerge alums like Lt. Gov. Molly Gray, state Rep. Jill Krowinski, and state Sen. Becca Balint, Vermont could be the FIRST to enshrine bodily autonomy in the state constitution – and Connecticut is right behind them.

The problem: Republicans control the VAST majority of state houses right now, and GOP officials are standing ready to strike down reproductive rights the minute that SCOTUS overturns Roe.

That means we need ALL our supporters to step up now and help elect Emerge women in the critical races this year. There are 46 state legislature elections this year, and we MUST win as many as we can.

So please, John, this couldn’t be more urgent: Will you donate $5 or more now to help Emerge recruit, train, and elect pro-choice Democratic women to critical state houses this year?
