You want to know how I know prescription drug prices are too high in our country?
A constituent told me she went all the way to Canada to get more affordable insulin for her sister.
That’s how I know.
Over 620,000 New Jerseyans have diabetes and it can cost them anywhere between $200 to $600 a month.
Spending $200 to $600 a month on insulin is a major blow for too many families. It’s so bad that one in four people with diabetes underuse or even skip doses. And that constituent’s sister? She got infections from reusing insulin ports.
It shouldn’t be this way.
No one should have to choose between life-saving medications and their family’s financial well-being. That’s why I voted for a bill that would cap patients’ out-of-pocket insulin costs to just $35 a month.
Clearly, this is an issue that many people have personal experiences with. Today, I want to hear from you. Will you share with me what lower prescription drug prices would mean for you and your family? [[link removed]]
Thank you for all you do,
Mikie
