As a soccer coach, I constantly evaluate my own coaching skills because at the end of the day (or a game), the performance of my team is my responsibility. Early into one of my seasons with a new team, I watched my team go down 0-2 in the first half, but by the end of the game, we lost 0-4.
This wasn't the first time we had lost as a team, but it was the first time I had seen my team give up before the final whistle. I was unbelievably disappointed. Normally, I would sit my team down after a game and we would review our performance as individuals and a team to figure out what we had done right and what we could learn from. But this time, I was so upset with them, I told them we didn't need to meet. I told them I had no problem coaching a losing team, we would lose together. But a quitting team? That's not my team. And I walked away.
I stayed up all night thinking about how their faces had fallen when they realized they had disappointed me. I decided that the next time this happened, I would handle it differently.
But there never was a next time. My team never quit again. They started losing hard. And then something happened that inevitably happens when you pour your blood, sweat, tears, and hard work into something, they started winning. Even after I was pushed out of my coaching job, I received a team call. They had gotten first place in their tournament and they couldn't wait to tell me because they knew I was proud of them and how much I believed in their hard work.
Team Hunt for Congress isn't a quitting team. Nor are we a losing team. There has been some serious foul play with the cyberattacks we've been under—and for any other campaign, those attacks would've been a fatal blow. And how many people have said we didn't have a chance against an establishment candidate? But at Team Hunt, we don't give up, we put in the work, and we never stop fighting.
So just yesterday, I excitedly reported back to our team polling data from some folks who are not supposed to be our voters: these voters are supporting our campaign. And it's not a small number of voters we're hearing from—it's thousands of people who are voting with us.
We're barreling towards the biggest upset in politics so we need to keep playing until the final whistle, and we need your support to do so.
If every one of our incredible supporters chips in just $10 (if you can chip in more, that would be amazing), we would hit our fundraising goal and be able to breathe. Can you rush a $10 contribution to our campaign?
