Some victories you helped us secure in 2019

Whenever I feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges we are up against, I like to stop and take stock of all we have accomplished. This year, thanks to your support, Earthjustice attorneys around the country were able to secure dozens of victories for the environment.

This wouldn't have been possible without you -- thank you! Below are five major victories you helped us win this year with your support, and some thoughts from our lawyers who worked on them.

1. Protected public lands

"The Cadiz pipeline is designed to facilitate an ill-conceived corporate plan to profit from a public necessity. The court saw right through the Trump administration's attempt to shoehorn the massive Cadiz pipeline into a railroad easement through Mojave Trails National Monument." - [link removed] Greg Loarie, Earthjustice staff attorney

2. A win for imperiled wildlife

"We're grateful that the court thoroughly examined the evidence and found the Fisheries Service ignored important scientific information. 3. Stopped offshore drilling
"Earthjustice has been advocating to hold the line against drilling in the Arctic for more than a decade. 4. People vs. polluting industries
"This decision is a long overdue victory for the local New Orleans community. Entergy grossly violated the law by hiring paid actors to fake support for its proposed gas plant -- a project that local residents were unable to protest because they were literally locked out of the City Council's meetings. - [link removed] Susan Stevens Miller, Earthjustice staff attorney who litigated the case

5. Securing public health protections
"The court made clear that EPA needs to strengthen the rule to protect communities living downstream of power plants, calling into question the legality of the Trump administration's plans to weaken these public health protections." - [link removed] Thom Cmar, Deputy Managing Attorney at Earthjustice
