Dear John,
We are proud to celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month by introducing AFGE A.P.O.W.E.R. — our union’s first Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) constituency group!
This past November, AFGE’s National Executive Council passed a resolution set forth by the Women’s and Fair Practices (WFP) Departments to develop a constituency workgroup called Asian Pacific Organized Workers Empowering Representation (A.P.O.W.E.R.), aimed at advancing racial justice and equity for AANHPI members, our families, and our communities. AFGE A.P.O.W.E.R. is also geared to ensure we are effectively representing, organizing, and mobilizing our AANHPI members and potential members for intentional inclusion to occur within labor.
AFGE A.P.O.W.E.R. membership is open to all AANHPI members and our allies. Click here to read our informational brochure.
Keep up with AFGE A.P.O.W.E.R. by joining our Facebook group here.
Join us on May 17 from 7-9pm EST for A.P.O.W.E.R. Hour, a virtual AANHPI Heritage Month Celebration of the diverse histories, cultures, languages, identities, and experiences that make up the AANHPI Community. Register below:
