Friend — this is urgent. The EPA is preparing to set new rules regarding heavy-duty trucks, and the window for public input is closing in just a couple days.
Here’s the problem: the two options they’re currently considering for the rule will make it difficult to meet our transportation emissions goals. One does the bare minimum and the other represents a package of giveaways to the worst polluting truck companies.
There’s no excuse for this. This isn’t a bill that needs to be passed through a narrow majority in Congress. These standards are set by the Biden-Harris administration’s EPA — and they represent a real shot at reining in the largest source of climate pollution in the U.S.
We need to fight back, and we need to do it now. The deadline for public input is Monday — please, send your message today.
SEND YOUR MESSAGE TO THE EPA NOW: I DEMAND CLEANER AIR WITH CLEANER TRUCKS >>
If done right, this new rule could be a gamechanger for both climate and air pollution in the United States. The transportation sector is the
largest source of climate pollution in the United States, with heavy-duty trucks releasing an enormous amount of greenhouse gasses — along with dangerous toxins — into the air.
Communities of color and low-wealth communities that are more likely to live near highways are disproportionately harmed by these vehicle emissions polluting our air, which contribute to higher levels of asthma and other respiratory illnesses.
The technology exists to fix this injustice.
All it takes is an EPA that is willing to act.
TAKE ACTION: Tell the EPA that dirty trucks harm our health and our planet. Send your message NOW, before Friday’s deadline >>
Thank you, Friend. We’re looking at a rare opportunity at a major victory against climate change, but it takes people like you speaking up to have any shot.
Sincerely,
