John,
As the holiday season begins, we just want to take a moment to give thanks to you and reflect on the amazing year that we've had so far.
This year, we're so thankful for the incredible policy victories for our environment, health and our climate. Along with MCV members like you, we helped pass legislation to increase the use of clean energy and solar power, reduce plastic and styrofoam pollution, and enact bold climate policies to promote clean energy jobs and drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions in Maine.
We're thankful for all the conservation champions in the State House and our environmental ally in the Blaine House, Gov. Janet Mills. After eight long years of inaction on climate, we now have an important window of opportunity to take action to address the devastating impacts that the climate crisis is already having on our state.
We'd like to honor Indigenous communities here in Maine and across the country who have endured centuries of oppression and don't share a romanticized view of the First Thanksgiving. Today, many Indigenous communities continue to face injustice which threatens their water, lands, cultural heritage, and way of life. We're thankful that Native people continue to stand up against polluters to protect the environment, and we stand with them in the fight.
And we're so very thankful for you and our loyal supporters who are the reason why we are able to continue this important work.
Because of you, we will build on the momentum of these great victories going into next year to implement new policies that cut carbon pollution, transition our state to clean energy, and protect our land, water, and health while working to ensure that Maine voters are prepared to make pro-environment choices at the polls in 2020.
Thank you again for everything you do for the Maine we all love. From all of us here at MCV, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
