Folks,

Today the Senate is voting on the Women’s Health Protection Act — the bill that would codify Roe v. Wade into law — and I will be voting yes.

For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make their own health care decisions without politicians and the federal government telling them what to do. The Supreme Court shouldn’t be taking away anyone’s rights, particularly when it comes to something as personal as an individual’s health care. But the draft opinion leaked last week makes it clear the Court is poised to do just that by potentially overturning Roe v. Wade.

Such a decision would trigger immediate bans on abortion in at least 23 states, leaving 33 million women without access to essential reproductive health care services. Republican politicians in Montana have already said they would work to pass a law to ban women from making their own health care decisions if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade . I don’t think we should be tossing women and their doctors in jail for exercising a right they’ve had for decades.

That is why I will be voting in support of the Women’s Health Protection Act later today. I urge my Senate colleagues to do the right thing and join me.

If you agree that women deserve the right to make their own health care decisions, please add your name to my petition urging my fellow Senators to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act . [[link removed]]

Thanks so much for having my back — I promise to always have yours as well.
