Focus: FROM OCEAN WAVES GENERATING ELECTRICITY

One of the greatest environmental challenges of today is to minimize harmful CO2 emissions that enters our environment.  Another great challenge is doing it in an efficient cost-effective way. Waves4Power has accepted both of these challenges and is fully determined to meet them in the best possible way.

Living on this planet and being part of human society comes with responsibilities. Waves4Power acts responsibly and works hard to offer both grid and off-grid users green energy solutions based on CO2 emission-free electricity from ocean waves.

Ocean Wave Motion = Electric Power

Waves4Power offers solutions for producing green energy from ocean waves. The waves harbor tremendous amounts of raw energy and represent the single largest untapped source of renewable energy today. Sustainable energy is key in our joint fight against global warming.

WaveEL the Converter

The heart of the Waves4Power system – the energy converter – is the WaveEL buoy. It’s a relatively small unit, well suited for the harsh environment in the open ocean. A system that will operate 24/7 and deliver green energy free of CO2 emissions.

The Team:  The Waves4Power team represents a wide range of backgrounds that include all applicable skill sets and experiences to handle the challenges of green energy solutions based on wave power.

Particular strengths of the team; marine operations and diving, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic design and engineering, hydrodynamic computer simulations, ship and infrastructure design, manufacturing, logistics, finance, business development, and market communication.

Guest Speaker:  Hans Fredrikson

Hans Fredrikson co-founder and Senior Advisor to Waves4Power has spent his career in the aerospace business – Saab Aerospace in Sweden and The Boeing Company here in Seattle.

While employed by Boeing Hans and his brother Goran started, first AquaEnergy Group, Seattle and then W4P Waves4Power AB in Gothenburg Sweden. W4P’s purpose is to further enhance and commercialize a wave energy technology that has been developed over several years and now has been full scale tested and proven as a viable electricity producing technology.

We hope you will join us on Wednesday, May 18th for this informative presentation!

The Spirit of the Waters Totem Pole Journey – Seattle ceremony

Info excerpts taken from Indian Country Today article, full article can be found here

The 2,300-mile journey highlights the vital role of the Snake River, salmon and orca to the lifeways and identities of tribal communities in the region. The updated pole, created by House of Tears Carvers, will travel for 17 days through tribal and metropolitan communities in Washington, Oregon and Idaho to advocate for the removal of dams on the Lower Snake River and for the health of salmon and orca.

Sponsored by Se’Si’Le (pronounced saw-see-lah) — an inter-tribal nonprofit aimed at reintroducing Indigenous spiritual law into the mainstream conversation about climate change and the environment — the Spirit of the Waters Totem Pole Journey informs and engages Pacific Northwest communities through inter-generational voices, ceremony, art and science, spirituality, ancestral knowledge and cross-cultural collaboration.

Please plan to attend the ceremony at the Seattle stop, May 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House at University of Washington in Seattle. For more information on the pole’s journey or to access virtual events, visit spiritofthewaters.org.

UPDATE – EKC PUD campaign sharing some exciting news

The Tribal Council of the Snoqualmie Tribe, after considerable time, effort and careful consideration, has decided to join the Yes to EKC PUD campaign as committed allies! The campaign is deeply grateful for the commitment of solidarity in working towards our mutual goals.

We knew in January that getting enough signatures by June for the November 2022 ballot was an ambitious timeline. We went for it anyway. The push to meet the 2022 deadline galvanized the campaign and garnered individual and organizational support from many sectors. We have spoken to and added numerous volunteers, businesses, organizations, artists, faith communities, elected officials, and Democratic LDs to the ranks of citizens and organizations who want real change for a carbon-free, community-directed energy future. However, after a deep analysis of the political and logistical situation, the Tribal Council of the Snoqualmie Tribe and the leadership of the EKC PUD campaign believe success will more likely be achieved by pivoting to the 2023 or 2024 campaign cycle.

This new timeline allows us to work with the Snoqualmie Tribe (who is dedicated, as we are, to removal of the dam at Snoqualmie Falls) and with all our supporters to build the robust campaign needed to fight PSE and WIN.

The EKC PUD campaign is now stronger than ever because of YOU and your support - all the signatures you collected, the emails you shared, the special events you organized, the canvassing you did, the presentations you initiated, the postcards you sent, the doors you knocked, and your belief in the promise of a better energy future. Hold onto that energy and stay tuned!

We will be sharing more information about our new timeline and strategy over the coming weeks, starting next Wednesday, May 18. We anticipate lots of volunteer opportunities over the summer and into the fall.

With the deepest gratitude for your continued support,

Barbra Chevalier, Campaign Director
Robert M. de los Angeles, Snoqualmie Tribal Council Chairman
Phil Ritter, Treasurer
Lin Hagedorn, Outreach Director
and the entire EKC PUD Leadership Team
