A slightly blurred collage of community photos. A march with yellow signs, two people hugging, a meeting, and a person talking on a megaphone are visible. There is a transparent blue overlay and a semi-transparent lighter blue box with the words "Headwaters Foundation for Justice e-newsletter" in black.<[link removed]>

Spotlighting economic justice and worker organizing
In honor of International Workers’ Day on May 1, Headwaters is spotlighting
vibrant economic and worker justice organizing<[link removed]> taking place across Minnesota and uplifting your role in funding those movements.
At Headwaters, we are living into our commitment to re-imagine what work looks like. Both organizationally and in our community grantmaking, we use a lens that uplifts human dignity and centers Black liberation, Native sovereignty, collective liberation, and gender justice. Many grantees use flexible general operating funds from Headwaters to focus on labor organizing, supporting worker rights, and building alternatives to our current economic system.
Your gift this spring<[link removed]> will help expand what is possible for workers in Minnesota.
Through your giving to Headwaters, you fund movement-building efforts that are creating an economy that rejuvenates and redistributes instead of extracts and hordes.
Renew your commitment to Headwaters and the Minnesota-based worker movements we support with a fiscal year-end gift before June 30.<[link removed]>
Thank you!

Pour yourself a cup of tea and sit back to hear guest speakers Hali Lee, Nneka Onwuzurike, and Elizabeth Scott discuss personal and professional learnings about class and wealth privilege, the power of relationships, and how you can think about meaningful, value-aligned giving more expansively.

This is what Native philanthropy looks like
In April we announced our newest Fund of the Sacred Circle grantees and the Native community grantmakers who selected them!
Fund of the Sacred Circle is Headwaters' longest standing fund. It honors and acknowledges Native-led organizations that nurture vibrant, thriving, just communities—both now and for future generations.
The grantmakers chose 19 Minnesota-based organizations to receive 2 year grants of $40,000 of general operating support ($20,000 per year). In total, Headwaters granted $760,000 to Native-led organizations.

This ritual is intended to heal by allowing all of our emotions to flow in, out, and around us. The play was commissioned by Exposed Brick Theatre in 2020 as part of our Through Our Eyes program.
