Friend, it's Gary. I'm not going to beat around the bush here. The GOP has spent five decades scheming to destroy Roe v. Wade, and – if the leaks we have seen are true – they're about to get away with it. 

I am outraged by the GOP's shameful attack on reproductive freedom, and I am seriously worried about what this means for the future of our country. But I am also firmly, unapologetically, ready to fight. When the Senate holds a vote to codify Roe v. Wade later today, we have a chance to do just that.

That's why I need you with me, friend: Please can I count on your name as soon as possible to demand that the Senate pass this bill and codify Roe v. Wade? I need another 793 Democrats to stand with me before this crucial vote. Here's the link to add your name:

This is personal for me. You see, my first wife was forced to seek an abortion for a child that we dearly wanted after her water broke when she was only four months pregnant. Our baby had no chance of survival, but the hospital board still refused to perform the procedure, putting my wife's health at serious risk. This decision was based purely on politics, not good medical advice or practices.

Thankfully my wife was able to receive the emergency abortion that she needed at another hospital, but we are just one family out of millions to go through this experience. My heart aches for the Americans out there who are terrified about what the Supreme Court's draft decision would mean for them and their loved ones.

I refuse to sit by while the GOP tries to take away reproductive freedom and launches attack after attack on every civil liberty that we hold dear. This is one of those moments where we have no choice but to meet the challenge facing us head on together as one united voice.
