John, today the Senate will vote on codifying Roe v. Wade into law. I have a lot on my mind, but here's what I keep coming back to: my opponent, Sen. Chuck Grassley, will bear responsibility when the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. He and his ultra-conservative allies will bear responsibility if the Senate vote fails today. I'm more determined than ever to defeat him.
You see, during my time in the Iowa State House, I fought tooth and nail against attempts to take away our right to choose, our right to health care and our right to reproductive freedom.

The morning I gave this speech, I remember looking in the mirror knowing the seriousness of the fight ahead and wondering what would be next. Regardless of what the future held, I was resolved to fight back with everything I had.
Now, as the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade – and as the Senate vote is poised to fail – this moment feels the same as that morning.
When I gave this speech, I was one of just a few women of childbearing age in the Iowa Statehouse voting on legislation that would strip away our essential rights. Now, I'm running for Senate as a 33-year-old woman against a man more than FIVE DECADES older than me; a man who has spent his entire career trying to destroy Roe v. Wade; a man who couldn't be happier to see reproductive rights hanging on by a thread; a man who will never have to worry about his access to lifesaving health care.
Sen. Grassley has made it his life's mission to take away our reproductive freedom, but he will NEVER experience the deeply personal, painful, severe and deadly consequences of this decision.
I know that things seem hopeless now, but I have a message for you: this fight is not over – it cannot be. We must win.
I promise you that if you send me to the Senate, I will vote to END the filibuster so that we can codify Roe v. Wade into law and take back control of our own bodies and futures. So please, if you're ready to join me in this fight, will you rush $5 right here and now to defeat Sen. Grassley, elect the youngest woman senator ever and protect reproductive rights?
