Friend, I'm sure you've read the headlines about the Supreme Court's intent to overturn Roe v. Wade.
|
Five judges appointed by Republicans appear to be prepared to end a nearly-50-year-old constitutional right to legal abortion – a right that most of us have grown up with having for our entire lifetime.
It is a sick and cynical strategy by the Republican Party that is causing harm as we speak to women and families all over this country – particularly in marginalized communities. A vast majority of Americans want abortion to be left up to a pregnant person and their doctor – this decision ends that possibility. This is Republican politicians putting the government in charge of your pregnancy. Full stop.
If SCOTUS does decide to move forward with this – and the conservative majority has given absolutely no indication that they've changed their minds – it would be an absolute disaster for this country. Countless Americans would be forced to carry pregnancies to term, regardless of personal circumstances, finances or health.
Overturning Roe v. Wade would be a tragedy on a massive scale, friend. I'll be honest: I'm struggling to wrap my head around its implications.

Here's the thing: With the Supreme Court abandoning 50 years of judicial decisions, our only chance at protecting abortion access is to codify it into federal law. That's why I'm circulating a petition to call on lawmakers to write abortion access into law – but with hours to go until our deadline, I'm still missing your support, friend.
|
Please, friend – if you believe reproductive rights are human rights, will you sign the petition to codify abortion access into law? The majority of Americans believe abortion access should remain legal – but extremist Republicans are dead-set on taking away Americans' rights to make decisions about their bodies.
