Hey John -
Justice Alito’s leaked draft opinion called the landmark 1973 decision on Roe v. Wade — which constitutionally enshrined the right to abortion — “egregiously wrong.” The draft opinion as written strikes down the right to abortion. This is nothing short of an egregious attempt by the high court to strip constitutionally protected civil rights.
Activists and organizations are planning a nationwide protest march on Saturday, May 14th in Washington, D.C. and all over the country. AYD plans to assemble a group and join them in D.C. — we will be meeting up 11:45am and if you are interested in joining us please email [email protected] [[email protected]] . We also have an abortion stigma training [[link removed]] with Planned Parenthood that we hope you'll join us for this Thursday, May 12th at 7pm.
Also, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and AYD is thrilled to host this month’s happy hour with the Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia (DAAV) and the Arlington Democrats AAPI Caucus. Save the date for May 24th at 7pm and location will be announced soon!

Join AYD for a candidate forum Tuesday, May 17th at 6:30pm at the Shirlington Library!
We'll hear a candidate announcement from Arlington County School Board candidate Bethany Sutton and we will then hear from the candidates for Virginia's 8th Congressional District Democratic Primary, Congressman Don Beyer (via pre-recorded video) and Victoria Virasingh (in-person).
