Too many of my colleagues think we can address climate change by using ideas from 1992. Those ideas are archaic, outdated, and do nothing to tackle the severity of the climate crisis. This is what happens when politicians (like my opponent) continue to take corporate contributions and money from the fossil fuel industry — they fail to embrace the bold policies that we need for this moment.
I don't take a dime of corporate PAC money, and my actions around environmental policy speak for themselves.
I introduced America's Clean Future Fund Act, which will create good-paying jobs by investing in clean energy and a green economy, help us transition away from carbon-intensive industries, and ultimately set us on the path to reaching the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. I've worked alongside the group Stop Sterigenics to hold polluters accountable for using carcinogenic toxins when treating food. And unlike my opponent, I'm not afraid to support the Green New Deal.
We need to act with urgency to tackle the climate crisis, and in my next term I'll continue to stand up to the fossil fuel industry, embrace renewable technologies, and work green policies into all we do. I'm proud to have the support of so many local partners in the fight for environmental justice, and I hope you'll stand with us in this critical election year. So please, chip in what you can today!
