We’re just one week away from #GivingTuesday! Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to donate to worthy causes, in the spirit of the holiday season. ASAN is proud to be a part of this annual tradition. This year, we’re celebrating the release of our proxy calling system by not calling you on the phone for donations. Instead, we are asking that you get the word out about our #AntiPhonathon on social media.

Wondering what else there is to celebrate? Thanks to your generous support, this year we:

  • Fought back against torture at the Judge Rotenberg Center through our #WeAreStillWaiting campaign
  • Pushed for equality in employment with the #WorkWithUs campaign
  • Launched our proxy calling system, which allows people with all kinds of disabilities to participate in our call-ins.
  • Held our 8th Autism Campus Inclusion summit, where we teach advocacy skills and disability history to autistic college students. Those students then take those skills back to their student groups, and receive support from us throughout the year.
  • Released toolkits on community living, the federal budget, and the HCBS Settings Rule.

These are just a few of the things that your donations helped us accomplish. Check out our annual report to learn more about everything we did in 2019!

Last year, we raised $8,000 for Giving Tuesday. This year, we’re asking for your support to raise $10,000, so that we can continue fighting for disability justice. If we reach our goal, we will destroy a phone, as a way to celebrate the fact that we don’t have to make phone calls to make a difference.

Next week, consider helping us reach our goal by:

  • 💵 Donating to ASAN

  • 💵 Creating a fundraiser for ASAN on Facebook

  • 📱 Spreading the word on social media using the hashtag #AntiPhonathon

  • 🤳 Taking a selfie with our #AntiPhonathon sign

We’re thrilled that we got so much done this year, but there is so much more that our community needs. Until all people with disabilities have full inclusion and equal rights, we have more work to do — and we can’t do it without you. With your help, we can raise funds that will allow us to continue to create accessible resources, foster autistic leadership, make sure everyone can participate in civic engagement, and so much more. Join us this Giving Tuesday, and let’s keep the work going together!
