Dear Team,
The Trump Administration's Department of Health and Human Services is doing everything in its power to make it harder for everyone to access the health care they need. The administration proposed a dangerous rule that attacks the Affordable Care Act's protections against discrimination for women, the LGBTQ+ community, and people with limited English proficiency.
We are fighting to make sure this harmful rule never goes into effect. Will you fight with us?
We're already more than halfway through the public comment period. Submit an official comment now to add your voice to the thousands of Center supporters already speaking out and trying to stop this harmful rule from going into effect.
The Affordable Care Act includes the first-ever federal civil rights protection against sex discrimination in health care—the "Health Care Rights Law." Thanks to this law, an unmarried pregnant woman cannot be denied care because of her marital status. A patient cannot be denied treatment because a provider objects to whom they love or how they present themselves. And a transgender person cannot be denied care because of their gender identity.
This new proposed rule is the administration's latest attempt to embolden providers who wish to discriminate, and advance the reprehensible view that some people are less worthy of equal rights protections than others. We must fight back.
Time is running out to stop this harmful proposed rule. Please submit your comment now.
No person, no matter who they are, whom they love, or where they come from, should experience discrimination when seeking medical treatment.
Thank you for defending our rights,
Center for Reproductive Rights
