Dear friend, Like many of you, I’m still infuriated by the disastrous Supreme Court draft opinion that was leaked last week. It made it clear that the Republican-controlled Supreme Court is ready to strike down Roe v. Wade, which will prevent millions of Americans from receiving the reproductive care they need. Let me be clear: Reproductive healthcare is healthcare -- and we have to fight to protect it. Tomorrow, the Senate is once again voting on the Women’s Health Protection Act, but because of the Jim Crow Era filibuster, it is unlikely to pass. Putting an archaic Senate rule ahead of the bodily autonomy of millions is unacceptable, and the fight can’t end here. Overturning Roe will disproportionately impact communities that already face barriers to healthcare, including communities of color, low-income communities, and LGTBQ+ communities, and it will force them into unsafe medical situations. If Republicans were actually working for their constituents, they’d spend less time trying to take away people’s healthcare, and a bit more time passing life-saving legislation. But I'll keep fighting back.
