There’s no such thing as a dead bill in the California Legislature - at least until the clock strikes midnight on the final night of a two-year session.  Then – and only then, is it safe to assume a bill has actually met its fate. And in no surprise to GOC, the bill to put an excise tax on all guns and ammo sold in the state has once again risen it’s ugly head:  AB 1227 – a bill that pertained to energy a few days ago has been gutted and replaced with the language from last year’s failed tax scheme, AB 1223. The author is the same – Democrat Marc Levine is going to try again to slap a fat tax on the sale of guns – which is constitutionally prohibited as the government cannot tax an enumerated right.  Read the bill HERE – GOC will be fighting this one again – tooth and nail.
