Everything I do as a representative in Congress comes from hearing my patients’ worries and from respecting science.
For that reason, I am outraged by the Supreme Court’s leaked opinion that they plan to strike down Roe v. Wade.
Listen: Roe has been the law of the land for nearly 50 years. This disgraceful move against precedent is only going to make it far less safe for huge swaths of women nationwide.
This has been on the GOP’s agenda for a long time, so this news didn’t come as a big surprise. But the fact is the doctor’s office has no place for politicians and their views—decisions need to come down to a patient and their doctor; period.
The majority of Americans support keeping Roe v. Wade the law of the land and we have to fight for it. Expanding our majority in Congress this November will give us the power to codify Roe, protecting women’s rights once and for all.
