John,
Ever since the Supreme Court's disastrous Citizens United decision, dark money has had an outsized influence on elections. Now, outside groups are pouring tens of millions of dollars into Democratic primaries to support corporate Democrats against progressive champions.
That's right — with Roe v. Wade on the brink of being overturned, these groups are spending money protecting corporate Democrats instead of trying to protect the right to abortion. Maybe it's because these are groups funded by billionaires and right-wing corporate donors. One organization even endorsed 109 Republicans who refused to recognize the 2020 election results.1
The forces we're up against are powerful, but while they've got money, we've got people. That's why we're asking you to join an organizing call hosted by the Working Families Party tonight to learn more about this outside spending and what you can do to fight back. Let's make sure corporate interests can't stop the next generation of champions for working people from making it to Congress.
These upcoming Democratic primaries will shape the future of the party and what we can accomplish in Washington over the next two years and beyond. The stakes are too high to let corporate interests, billionaires, and right-wing donors shape the outcome of these elections.
We hope you'll be able to join us tonight to learn more about what you can do.
See you there,
Natalia Salgado
