We need bold action now.

Earlier today the World Meteorological Association reported that Earth's average temperature has a 50/50 chance of surpassing the climate milestone of 1.5 degrees Celsius over pre-industrial levels by 2025. And this is just the latest of a long list of sobering warnings about the impact of climate inaction.

Last month the Office of Management and Budget released a cost assessment that floods, drought, wildfires, and hurricanes made worse by climate change would cost the U.S. federal budget about $2 Trillion a year — a 7.1% loss in annual revenue — by the end of this century. And we can see the writing on the wall all around us.

So, what are we waiting for? There are only two choices: be part of the solution or part of the problem.

Make the Pledge

There are a number of strong proposals for action, like my Polluters Pay legislation that just needs two more votes in the Senate to become law. It would generate about $500 billion over ten years from the largest climate polluters — like big oil companies ExxonMobil, Shell and Chevron — to help clean up the mess they've made. They would pay about $5 billion a year; roughly less than 3% of their gross receipts.

And we need to accelerate our move away from dependence on oil — which will also make it harder for countries like Russia, Saudi Arabia, and other big producers to use their ability to raise global oil prices to pressure us and others.

So, don't wait, click here to pledge today to support Climate Action when you vote this November!

We owe it to the next generation to take action now.

Thank you for being part of the solution.
