John,

As devastating as last week has been for so many, we must remember two things.

1. The draft Supreme Court opinion striking down Roe v. Wade is NOT final. Abortion is still legal right now. There is time to fight, and we must do just that.

2. Abortion is not our only right at risk — the legal reasoning behind the SCOTUS opinion would set the stage to roll back everything from privacy rights to LGBTQ+ marriage equality.

Should this SCOTUS ruling become final, district attorneys will play a vital role in protecting women’s health as they have the power to decide whether or not to prosecute abortion or other pregnancy outcomes.

In 2020, 64 district attorneys pledged not to criminalize abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned. In 2022, it's more important than ever for them to keep their promises, especially in states controlled by Republican legislatures.

Color Of Change PAC is working to elect district attorneys nationwide who will commit to not prosecuting abortion and ensure that every American understands the importance of electing pro-choice DAs. But we can’t do it without your support — will you pitch in $5 or more to help us continue our organizing work in this critical election cycle?

Republican lawmakers are mobilizing to heavily restrict or outright ban not only abortion, but ALL forms of reproductive healthcare. We can’t wait ‘til November and we won’t — we’re going to amp up the work we’re doing to elect progressive district attorneys across the nation, but we can’t do it without your support.

The Louisiana state legislature just advanced a bill to ban abortion from the “moment of fertilization” and classify it as murder — laying the groundwork to criminalize birth control, IUDs, Plan B, and other essential medical devices and treatments.

No one should face prison time because of an abortion, a miscarriage, or for seeking the care they need.

As the right wing plants people in government outside the reach of voters and uses them to destroy the federal laws that protect us, we must work to ensure that we have local officials who will protect our communities. Our communities don’t need legislative decisions made on our bodies and our choices – we need access to basic rights such as voting, adequate education, housing and safe communities.

70% of local prosecutors run unopposed. We can change that — make a gift of $5 or more to help elect district attorneys who will refuse to criminalize pregnancy.

The fight to liberate abortion is about equality, freedom, and dignity — equal access to reproductive healthcare, the freedom to decide, and bodily autonomy which is fundamental to human dignity.

We will not back down.
