Please join the Solidarity Center for a discussion of a new report focused on the importance of collective bargaining agreements for addressing poor working conditions in global supply chains.

Dr. Mark Anner, report author, director of the Center for Global Workers’ Rights and professor of labor and employment relations at Pennsylvania State University, Solidarity Center Executive Director Shawna Bader-Blau, senior labor leaders from Honduras Evangelina Argueta, Joel Lopez and Maria Elena Sabillon, as well as the Worker Rights Consortium ([link removed]) will share new insights on the impact of collective bargaining.

The report, commissioned by the Solidarity Center, draws its findings from original research in the Honduran maquila sector, principally the garment industry. Findings include that:
* Workers covered by collective bargaining agreements have more access to decent work, fair wages and safe working conditions, reducing economic coercion and other factors that compel migration
* Collective bargaining agreements have important impacts on issues surrounding gender-based violence and harassment in the world of work
* Unions have been critically effective in the promotion of health and public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Únase al Centro de Solidaridad para una discusión de un nuevo informe centrado en la importancia de los acuerdos de negociación colectiva para abordar las malas condiciones laborales en las cadenas de suministro globales.

Dr. Mark Anner, autor del informe, director del Centro para los Derechos Globales de los Trabajadores y profesor de relaciones laborales y empleo en la Universidad Estatal de Pensilvania, la Directora Ejecutiva del Centro de Solidaridad Shawna Bader-Blau, líderes sindicales de Honduras Evangelina Argueta, Joel López, María Elena Sabillon, y el Consorcio de Derechos de los Trabajadores ([link removed]) compartirán nuevos conocimientos sobre el impacto de la negociación colectiva.

El informe, encargado por el Centro de Solidaridad, extrae sus conclusiones de una investigación original en el sector de la maquila hondureña, principalmente la industria de la confección. Los hallazgos incluyen que:

• Las y los trabajadores cubiertos por convenios colectivos tienen más acceso al trabajo decente, salarios justos y condiciones de trabajo seguras, reduciendo las presiones económicas y otros factores que son las causas raíces de la migración
• Los convenios colectivos tienen un impacto importante en los problemas relacionados con la violencia y el acoso de género en el mundo del trabajo
• Los sindicatos han sido críticamente efectivos en la promoción de la salud y la seguridad pública durante la pandemia de COVID-19.
