Friend,

Thirty years after generating the first report on climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) finally acknowledged colonialism as a historical and ongoing driver of the climate crisis.

This is big, friend.

For too long, climate policy has narrowly focused on economic drivers, without considering the broader impacts of racism.

That’s why our racial justice work is a core part of everything we do. We are committed to protecting marginalized communities and pushing our government leaders toward inclusive policies.

We’re relieved the IPCC has formally recognized the central role of colonialism in the climate crisis both past and present.

Colonialism displaced millions of people and devastated ecosystems across all continents, contributing to mass environmental destruction.

It’s why we must approach climate change with a multi-racial historical context. We cannot solve climate change without considering climate justice.

That’s why we center racial justice in our work and are advocating for solutions like President Biden’s Justice40 initiative. Justice40 ensures at least 40% of federal climate investments go directly to frontline and marginalized communities that are most affected by pollution.

By talking about climate justice and the impacts of colonialism, we’re able to tell the full story of climate change and ensure marginalized communities are protected from the worst impacts.

Please consider chipping in $15 towards our climate justice work and let’s fight this climate crisis together >>
