Friend,
The Senate is set to vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act tomorrow — a bill that would codify abortion rights into law.
With the recent news of the Supreme Court’s plan to overturn Roe v. Wade, allowing states to outlaw abortion, our senators must act now to ensure we can continue to make our own decisions for our bodies.
This may be the Senate’s last chance to protect access to abortion for the entire country before the Supreme Court’s decision takes effect in June. We need all hands on deck to make sure our senators hear from us.
Act now: Urge your senators to protect our rights by writing abortion protections into federal law through the Women’s Health Protection Act, so anyone can access abortion care — no matter their ZIP code.
And if we need to abolish the filibuster to get this through the Senate, then it’s time our senators act on that, too.
The Women’s Health Protection Act will protect our right to an abortion — even if the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade.
Here’s exactly how the WHPA protects our rights and health:
- Upholds the right to access abortion throughout the United States
- Protects against bans and medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion, including mandatory waiting periods, biased counseling, and two-trip requirements
- Establishes a statutory right for health care professionals to provide abortion care to their patients
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court and the Senate does not pass the WHPA, it’s estimated that 26 states will likely ban abortion, and more will drastically restrict access to abortion care through new Republican-led legislation.
To put it simply: We need the Women’s Health Protection Act more now than ever.
Young people have worked tirelessly to elect pro-choice representatives into office. Now, it’s time for our leaders to represent us and protect our bodily autonomy and our futures.
Hold our senators to their promises by ensuring they codify Roe v. Wade into law through the WHPA.
Thank you,
NextGen America
