How Climate Friendly is Your Home?
A Free Energy Auditing Program
Wednesday, May 25 2022 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Measuring your home's energy efficiency is a great first step toward lowering energy consumption. But energy audits can be costly, and it’s not easy to find a qualified auditor. Now there’s a solution: New York State is teaming up with NEEP (Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships) to offer a free, remote energy auditing service to homeowners. NEEP’s app collects data from your home and uses it to produce an energy model showing how much you might save from different energy upgrades. At this event, NEEP experts will explain how the system works and get you started on your own audit. Please register at least one hour in advance to receive a zoom link, or live stream it on Youtube.

FROM OUR FRIENDS AND ALLIES:
Support "The Extinction Series," a musical work in which each movement is dedicated to an extinct animal
Composer Whitney George has been writing her work "The Extinction Series" since 2014, a work that she will never finish. She is currently writing three new movements that will be performed by the new music ensemble The Curiosity Cabinet. Together they are raising money to support the completion of these movements, and will give some of the money raised to non-profits that focus on environmental preservation or on climate organizing. We are honored that they have included 350Brooklyn. Support their work here.
Climate Education
The Climate and Resilience Education Task Force calls for comments on
NYS Climate Action Draft Scope Planning by June 10
Investing in K-12 education is an essential part of building a strong, informed, resilient community. Climate education is necessary to achieve climate targets and to prepare students to be part of a new workforce, and ensure they become informed voters. K-12 climate education helps build a culture of preparedness, it creates a skilled workforce for emerging sectors, it builds support for state climate policies and it begins to address issues of climate justice. Funds need to be allocated specifically to K-12 climate education to enable educators to develop and implement climate education, and we need to make our voices heard to make sure this happens. Find out more here, then, submit your comments.
Additionally, Cretf has put out a call for all K-12 educators and students to make a 10 second video in support of climate change education by May 20. Find out more, and submit your videos here.
