Dear Friend,
I don't need to tell you that the climate crisis is getting worse. I also don't need to tell you that when thinking about a problem as big as climate change, it may seem easier to hide than act.
But here at New York Communities for Change, we decided to act. Because when we act, we take control of what happens to our future. Instead of hiding from the climate crisis, we turned it into an organizing tool to reach as many people as possible who fear the next hurricane, who fear this heatwave, and want to do something about it.
The result so far has been monumental. Just this past year, we won the gas ban in New York City which reduces greenhouse gas emissions generated by the dirtiest source of pollution we have: our buildings. This will create new, green jobs for our communities, all the while cutting pollution!
So, on Thursday, May 26th, we will be celebrating our climate victories at our annual gala at Franklin Park in Crown Heights with our incredible honorees. We will be honoring actor-activists Zazie Beetz and David Rysdahl; our philanthropic partner Climate Emergency Fund; as well as the founders of our Hempstead Community Garden on Long Island!

We will be joined by a DJ; there will be food, drinks, dancing, and hopefully YOU! Don't forget to reserve your ticket here!
In solidarity,
