This has been a shocking week, to say the least. But now that the shock is wearing off, I’m getting angry.

As you know, Virginia’s Senate holds its majority because she took out a Republican incumbent in 2019. It’s because of this single seat that Democrats continue to strike down egregious GOP bills that would harm all Virginians. It is this single seat that is protecting the rights of Virginians and keeping Virginia from becoming like Texas, Idaho, Alabama, and more when it comes to reproductive freedom.

Let me be clear: Women with unplanned pregnancies will suffer and die. Children who are raped by their fathers, uncles, or strangers will suffer and die. Pregnant people who suffer health complications will suffer and die. The Supreme Court, as it stands, will make these deaths not just inevitable, but legal. And Republicans – from Mitch McConnell to Glenn Youngkin – do not care. It’s that simple.
