Dear John,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Zoom seminar today! We appreciate all the questions we received and look forward to hosting more seminars to keep you updated on our case in California. For those who could not join us, please feel free to watch the recording on our YouTube channel here.
The NhRP is so grateful for your belief in our mission and for your support, whether moral, financial or otherwise, that has gotten us to this point of bringing our fight for nonhuman animal rights to California. We’ve entered an exciting time where the issue of nonhuman animals’ legal status is a part of a broader public conversation to an extent it never has been before. California is a state with a powerful history of protecting the vulnerable and disenfranchised, so we believe it’s time for the California courts to consider our case and the Fresno Chaffee Zoo elephants’ fundamental right to liberty.
To learn more about Nolwazi, Amahle, and Vusmusi and read our filings, please head to their court case timeline. To help #FreeTheFresnoElephants now, please sign and share their new Change.org petition. In addition, as mentioned in the seminar today, for a glimpse at what life is like for elephants living in sanctuary, watch our past seminar where we interviewed Catherine Doyle of PAWS.
Lastly, if you are in a position to do so, please continue to help us in this groundbreaking legal fight by making a donation to the NhRP today. All donations go towards restoring and protecting the liberty of the Fresno elephants and other autonomous nonhuman beings.
With gratitude,
Mickey Suzuki
Development Director, the NhRP
P.S. Please join us again on Thursday, May 12th at 1 p.m. ET for a Zoom seminar with Monica Miller, the attorney who’ll argue in Happy’s case. She’ll discuss Happy’s historic case and how we’re preparing for arguments. She’ll also take questions from viewers. Register here.
