Virunga National Park Rangers Become Pilots!
Watch Their Video

John,

LCA is happy to share the news that two Virunga National Park Rangers, Bright and Claude, have passed their flight exams and are now pilots!

This is a big achievement for the Virunga National Park Rangers and the Virunga AirWing program. This good news has made the local population proud and has reached the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, His Excellency, Felix Tshisekedi.

LCA is very proud to have sponsored Bright and Claude's pilot training.

LCA provides monthly support to Virunga National Park's AirWing program. The Virunga Park Rangers risk their lives daily to protect the Park, the natural resources, local people, wild animals and the majestic mountain gorillas.

In 2021, construction of a new fortified hangar and rangers quarters were completed near Virunga's headquarters at the Katale/LCA airfield. The new barracks house 12 rangers, complete with showers and bathroom facilities. A second, critical BatWing aircraft, donated by LCA, also joined the AirWing fleet.

Past support enabled LCA to help the Virguna AirWing program purchase the Katale/LCA airfield.
