The Illinois Freedom Caucus launched this week, marking the Network's fifth state freedom caucus.

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you in the battle to advance freedom!

The State Freedom Caucus Network is proud to officially announce the launch of our newest affiliate: the Illinois Freedom Caucus!

Left-wing politics and policy have long-dominated the state of Illinois, creating an environment of rampant cronyism, corruption, and big-government boondoggles. However, some state lawmakers are choosing to fight back, taking critical stands in defense of freedom and pushing many of their colleagues to take positions in stark contrast to decades of failed leadership in Springfield.

Representing East Central and Southern Illinois, the self-described conservatives of the ‘Eastern Bloc’ include State Representatives Brad Halbrook, Chris Miller, Dan Caulkins, Blaine Wilhour, and Adam Niemerg. Together, they have emerged as true envoys of freedom in the Illinois State House and their impact is already making a difference.

In 2019, the bloated and deficit-increasing state budget passed with the support of nine Republicans in the House despite loud opposition from the ‘Eastern Bloc.’ The following year, every single Illinois House Republican opposed Governor Pritzker’s spending boondoggle as these conservative leaders helped rally their colleagues to stand against the spending binge threatening Illinois’ economy.

In 2021, these freedom leaders stood arm-in-arm to oppose a toothless “ethics reform” package that did little to advance accountability over legislators. Unfortunately, far too many of their Republican colleagues threw their support behind a bill that served as little more than a legislative fig leaf, allowing Democrat leadership to claim they did something when the reality was the precise opposite.

These conservatives were vindicated for their opposition when the Legislative Inspector General described the bill as a “paper tiger” and announced her resignation saying she could not adequately perform her job.

And earlier this year, these principled freedom fighters initiated a fight on the House floor to draw attention to the ongoing refusal of teacher union-dominated school systems to unmask children in schools. They, along with five of their colleagues, entered the chamber without masks to expose the hypocritical mask theater by Democrat elected officials who routinely attend fundraisers and galas without masks while allowing unions to cruelly and unnecessarily cover the faces of school kids.

This drew the ire of exposed Democrats who removed these freedom leaders from the chamber for “failing to follow” the hypocritical policies imposed by House leadership.

All of this is to say that the Illinois Freedom Caucus is ready to rumble.

The State Freedom Caucus Network will continue to create, cultivate, and develop networks of freedom-loving, liberty-minded state lawmakers all over the nation to equip them with the tools and resources they need to defeat the rising, radical Left and their enablers in the GOP establishment.
