Hey John, The New York Times just posted an article saying that Pennsylvania is the “midterms’ biggest abortion battleground” — and I wanted to make sure you saw it. Because it’s true — protecting abortion access in Pennsylvania all comes down to this election. As long as we elect a Democratic Governor this fall, abortion access will remain safe and legal. If any Republican wins this race, they will try to eliminate the right to choose here — some with zero exceptions. It is going to be up to the states to protect the right to choose — and we must make sure abortion stays legal and accessible in Pennsylvania. I’ve been clear about being pro-choice since day one. As the People’s Attorney General, I took on the Trump Administration in federal court to protect access to contraception, won an injunction against the “gag rule,” and filed an amicus brief in support of the U.S. Department of Justice’s challenge to Texas’ 6-week abortion ban. As Governor, I will protect a woman’s right to choose. But first, we need to win this competitive race — because as The New York Times reports, “the leading Republicans running for Governor in the state want to outlaw abortion.” The Republicans will sign legislation that would ban abortion in Pennsylvania. I will veto that legislation. Thanks for being a part of this team, Josh Shapiro
