Over the past week, I have heard from many North Texans about the leaked draft Supreme Court opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade and outlaw a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body. I wanted to take a moment to see where you stand.

If this draft is enacted, the Supreme Court would strike down Roe v. Wade, which would blatantly ignore 50 years of settled law with a complete disregard for the fundamental rights of women. We cannot go back to a time when women couldn't make decisions about their own bodies. An overwhelming majority of the American people, including 78% of Texans, oppose overturning Roe. Poll after poll shows that the position of folks on the far-right –to outlaw abortion access– is out of touch with the American people.

I will never stop fighting to protect the rights of women and it’s why I proudly voted in the House to pass legislation to codify Roe protections and protect the rights of women. The Senate must find a way to get that bill passed and send it to President Biden’s desk.
