With the news that the Supreme Court could overturn Roe v. Wade, many have reached out asking questions like what will it mean to lose access to abortions and who will be impacted most. And so we wanted to share a new blog post from Dream Corps CEO, Nisha Anand, that looks at how the possible decision to overturn Roe could mean higher death rates and years of economic pain - but only for some. And she talks about why she continues to believe that in the darkest moments of history, the best way through is by leading with empathy and love. Please prioritize your mental and physical health, we will be here whenever and however you want to be involved with our work.

John,

Did you know that 68% of Florida’s Latino voters consider extreme weather events to be the greatest climate threat facing their communities?

In a recent survey commissioned by Dream Corps Green For All, canvassers with UnidosUS Action Fund spoke to over 1,000 newly registered Latino voters in Florida to ask how the climate crisis impacts their lives. Regardless of political party, 62% of respondents were concerned about limited access to renewable energy and 56% are worried about affording higher energy bills from extreme heat. They expect their elected leaders to take action to reduce air and water pollution and combat the climate crisis.

“Climate change is an issue that affects us all. It breaks global boundaries and crosses party lines. To deal with the crisis, we need an all-hands-on-deck approach for solutions that protect our state, our neighborhoods, and our homes. From hurricanes and flooding, to months of intense heat and high utility bills, Black and Latino communities are hit hardest by the climate crisis. We are happy to partner with UnidosUS Action to release this important survey to center these voices.” Jessie Buendia, National Director of Green For All

Green For All will continue to seek out the voices of Black and Brown communities as we work to find common ground on climate. We believe that the voices of underrepresented groups are essential to finding equitable, common sense solutions that work for everyone – especially those hit first and worse by climate.

Do you want to be a part of the solution? Help us shift the narrative by sharing our findings and encouraging your elected leaders to act on climate NOW!
