Announcing a credit-bearing summer course about the American tradition FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 9, 2022 Claremont Institute is proud to partner with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute Claremont, CA, May 9, 2022 — The Center for the American Way of Life, along with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute has partnered with the Institute for Religion, Politics, and Culture at Washington College to present Freedom in American Political Life. This rich, immersive online summer course is open to advanced high school and college students who seek to understand where our freedoms come from, especially as they relate to the American tradition. The course will take students on an in-depth exploration of: Religious freedom and economic freedom The eradication of slavery The victory over fascism and Soviet communism Challenges facing freedom in the United States today Running from May 31 to June 24, the credit-bearing political science course transfers 4 credits to colleges and universities nationwide. Students can earn more than a semester’s worth of credit in under a month! Piloting the course is Professor Joseph Prud’homme, the Burton Family Chair in Religion, Politics, and Culture at Washington College (PhD, Princeton University). The course features a number of guest speakers affiliated with the Claremont Institute, and material influenced by it, including: Arthur Milikh, executive director of the Claremont Institute’s Center for the American Way of Life, along with a number of the Center’s Scholars Wilfred M. McClay, award-winning historian, author of Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story, and the Victor Davis Hanson Chair of Classical History and Western Civilization at Hillsdale College Thomas G. West, professor of politics at Hillsdale College and author of this course’s core text, The Political Theory of the American Founding Due to a heavy investment by the Institute at Washington College to reduce the cost, enrollment for this full-credit-bearing Political Science course is $2,000.
