After the Arkansas Press Association Debate, some coverage talked about how “meaningless” the role of Lieutenant Governor is -- and in another piece, I was referred to as “a pleasant, interesting woman who does TikTok or something.” 😂

Then noted, “But she’s the Democrat, so she doesn’t count.” 

We talk about this all of the time. AR is not a red state. It’s a *non-voting* state.

I’ve also always been super clear about the position of Lieutenant Governor and what someone in that role can and cannot do.

But in case you’ve missed those updates, here’s a recap of what the Lt. Gov of Arkansas does:

• Preside over the Senate and provide a tie-breaking vote if needed
• Step in as Governor if the Governor were to die or resign while in office

Honestly, the powers are pretty limited -- but it’s the second-highest executive leadership position in the state. And let’s be honest, the second responsibility is pretty important.

What excites me most about the position of Lieutenant Governor is its unique platform and ability to be a megaphone for issues that matter to Arkansans. We need a light shining on the clunky systems that need improvement, and someone passing the mic to experts in those area.

And for the record: In Arkansas, we have seen the Lt. Gov become the governor more than once. 

We deserve leaders who are willing to do the right thing even when it’s hard. That’s why I'm in this race, and I'm hoping I can count on your support to help me win this thing.
