Online webinar: Stop US nukes coming to RAF Lakenheath!

Ahead of our protest ([link removed]) at RAF Lakenheath on Saturday 21st May, CND is inviting supporters to join a special webinar to discuss the news that US nuclear bombs could be coming back to the Lakenheath base - and to explore how we can oppose it!

We have had a strong track record of removing nuclear weapons from Britain as a result of popular protest. In the 1980s, mass mobilisation led to the removal of US cruise missiles. In 2008, sustained protests by CND and local groups led to the removal of US free-fall nuclear bombs from Lakenheath.

Join our webinar to discuss how we organise to prevent a new generation of nuclear weapons coming to Britain.

Speakers to include: Tom Unterrainer, CND Chair; Ludo De Brabander, a Belgian writer, activist, and spokesperson for Belgian peace organisation, Vrede; and Marion Küpker, spokesperson for the ‘Büchel is everywhere! nuclear weapons-free now’ campaign - established to call for the removal of 20 US B-61 nuclear weapons stored at Büchel Air Base in Germany. Chaired by Kate Hudson, CND General Secretary.

It will explore the myth that the industry provides thousands of jobs in an irreplaceable sector, the links between civilian nuclear and defence industries, and argue that new nuclear is not the answer to Britain meeting its de-carbonising targets.
