The U.S. Department of Treasury posted updated guidance reinforcing and further clarifying that state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments have full authority to invest in charitable nonprofits when spending their allocations of federal funds made available under the American Rescue Plan Act. The new guidance, titled Final Rule: Frequently Asked Questions, updates answers to questions related to the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Most notably, FAQ 1.8 expressly states that governments may devote their allocations of federal money to charitable nonprofits in two important ways: nonprofits as recipients of relief (beneficiaries) and nonprofits as providers of relief to others.

Responding to High Demand of Services and Community Crises – The Role of Reception webinar. When: May 17, 2022 02:00 PM Eastern Time.

The Front Desk/Triage team at Catholic Charities of Tennessee, Diocese of Nashville, receives roughly 150 phone calls a day and about 25 people walking in seeking services daily. Join us to explore the new system that CC of Tennessee has created to address the high demand and reach our neighbors in crisis. Panelists will present how the team consists of three main points of contact: community volunteers, Social Work student interns, and Catholic Charities Basic Need staff members. Additionally, we will explore how community volunteers answer phone calls and direct clients to the appropriate intern or staff member, answer the door for all clients, check them in, and notify Catholic Charities staff of individuals who have arrived as walk-ins. Social Worker interns, both undergraduate and master’s levels, are trained in crisis intervention management and triage all phone calls and walk-ins.  Register in advance for this webinar here

Throughout the past several years, the farm economy has faced tremendous challenges, even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Commodity prices have been low, markets and supply chains have been disrupted, and it is more and more challenging to ensure that farming is a sustainable livelihood. While mental health is a struggle many Americans face, there is a significant number of rural Americans working through tough mental health situations. This includes women, minority groups, veterans, and most of all, farmers and ranchers. Registration and additional event materials can be found here.
