Dear John,
I first testified before the Florida Legislature when I was 17 years old. As a survivor of child sexual abuse, I wanted to support other survivors and keep violent predators off our streets.
A few years later, I founded Lauren’s Kids, now an internationally recognized nonprofit, to support sexual assault survivors and prevent abuse through education. By standing up, speaking out, and telling my story, I know I’ve been able to save lives and keep children safe.
Serving in the Florida Senate — and as Senate Democratic Leader — is just the most recent part of my lifelong commitment to serving our community and standing up for what’s right.
With your support, I’ve been able to accomplish so much — expanding Medicare twice, passing life-saving gun safety legislation in the wake of the Parkland shooting, and protecting our precious environment. But there’s more work to do.
For me, this election is personal. I’m not done fighting back against Governor DeSantis’ radical and dangerous attacks against LGBTQ+ people, Black history, voting rights, and abortion rights.
And I’m not done delivering for Broward families.
I need your help. It’s full speed ahead between now and Election Day, and your support is critical as we continue building our movement.
So John, if you’re in a position to give, I need your help more than ever. Please click here to donate.
Over the course of my adult life, I’ve been a classroom teacher, an advocate, nonprofit leader, and now, Senate Democratic leader. It’s rarely easy to fight for what’s right, but I know that with you on our team, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.
Warmly,
Lauren
