Weekend Marked by Protests Outside Homes of Justice Kavanaugh and Chief Justice John Roberts

From the story: Roughly 100 pro-abortion protesters marched outside the homes of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Saturday evening, days after a leaked majority draft opinion suggested the Court may be poised overturned Roe v. Wade. When protesters made their way back to Kavanaugh’s house, police ordered the group to disperse (National Review). Daily Signal’s Douglas Blair: The energy is markedly more negative outside Kavanaugh’s house. The anger has become much more palpable than outside any other justices’ house (Twitter). Breitbart: The protesters also made a stop at Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home, which was reportedly orchestrated by one of Kavanaugh’s neighbors. The pro-abortion radicals reportedly chanted, “No uterus, no opinion,” outside Kavanaugh’s home (Breitbart).

Clarence Thomas Says the Court Will Not “Be Bullied”

Thomas was speaking at a judicial event in Atlanta. From Townhall: As a society, “we are becoming addicted to wanting particular outcomes, not living with the outcomes we don’t like,” Thomas said at the conference. “We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,” he added (Townhall). Fox News: Chief Justice John Roberts spoke at the same conference Thursday, where he called the leak “absolutely appalling.” The justice went on to dismiss any question that the leak would affect the Supreme Court’s final decision. “A leak of this stature is absolutely appalling,” Roberts said. “If the person behind it thinks that it will affect our work, that’s just foolish” (Fox News).

Pro-Life Pregnancy Center in Madison, Wisconsin Vandalized: "If abortions aren't safe then you aren't either"

Madison.com: Vandals set a fire inside the Madison headquarters of the anti-abortion group Wisconsin Family Action late Saturday or early Sunday, police and an official with the group said Sunday (Madison). Life News: Abortion activists planned to “raise hell” at churches across the country on Mother’s Day with protests and, some fear, violence as outrage grows in response to a leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court that overturns Roe v. Wade (Life News). Josh Kraushaar: Sarah Godlewski (D), the first Dem in the Wisconsin Senate race to issue statement condemning vandalism at Wisconsin Family Action center (Twitter).

Governor DeSantis: “Disney Is Going to Be Responsible for all the Debt it's Racked Up”

From the story: Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis is not backing down from Disney when it comes to the park’s special VIP treatment it has been given for years (Townhall). Forbes: DISNEY: Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL): “Disney is going to have to live under the same laws that everybody else lives under in Florida. Disney will pay its fair share of taxes, and Disney is going to be responsible for all the debt it’s racked up” (Twitter). Breitbart: Disney has continued to pay the price, literally, for making it clear that it does not respect parental rights, as Walt Disney Co. lost nearly $63 billion in market capitalization since coming out against Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill, which protects children in kindergarten through third grade from classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity (Breitbart).

Missouri and Louisiana Sue Biden Officials for Collusion with Big Tech

From the story: The Republican attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana accused President Joe Biden and other top government officials in a lawsuit Thursday of colluding with social media giants such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to censor and suppress speech under the guise of combating dangerous misinformation. The lawsuit claims that Biden and his supporters, during the 2020 election campaign and now in office, have directly worked with executives and employees of Big Tech companies to censor content related to controversial political debates over the past two years (Washington Examiner). Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt: According to the lawsuit, “Candidate Biden also threatened that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg should be subject to civil liability and even criminal prosecution for not censoring such core political speech” (Twitter). New York Post: The attorneys asked the court to declare that the defendants violated the First Amendment and that the defendants had exceeded their statutory authority. They’ve also asked the court to stop  the officials from “continuing to engage in unlawful conduct” to suppress free speech (New York Post).

Jill Biden Secretly Visits Ukraine

Townhall: First lady Jill Biden paid a surprise visit to Ukraine on Sunday where she met with first lady Olena Zelensky. Her trip comes shortly after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other Members of Congress visited Ukraine and met with President Volodymyr Zelensky (Townhall). Associated Press: The women came together in a small classroom, sitting on either side of a wooden table and greeting each other in front of reporters before they met in private. Zelenska and her two children have been staying at an undisclosed location for their safety. The visit allowed Biden to conduct the kind of personal diplomacy that her husband would like to do himself. President Joe Biden said when he visited Poland in March that he was disappointed he could not cross the border and go into Ukraine to see conditions “firsthand” but that he was not allowed, likely due to security reasons. The White House said as recently as last week that the president “would love to visit” but there were no plans for him to do so at this time (Associated Press). Tyler Pager: First lady Jill Biden crossed the border into Ukraine, making an unannounced visit to the country amid Russia’s ongoing invasion. She met with Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska, who had not appeared in public since the Feb. 24 Russian invasion (Twitter).

Taliban Forces Women to Cover Their Faces, Told Women Not to Go Outside

From the story: The Taliban on Saturday ordered Afghan women to cover their faces in public and to avoid leaving their homes, in the latest restrictions they have imposed on women since taking power last year. The decree, issued by the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, addresses how women should appear in public, saying they must observe “proper hijab,” an Islamic concept of modesty that applies to women’s clothing, whenever they are in public environments. Afghanistan is a deeply traditional country, where the overwhelming majority of women dressed conservatively long before the Taliban takeover last August (Wall Street Journal). BBC: Any woman who refuses to comply and ignores official warnings to male members of her family could see a male guardian jailed for three days (BBC). These are the people President Joe Biden handed the country to.

LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva: DA George Gascón Has Failed to Prosecute Over 13,000 Cases

From the story: Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said his office presented 13,238 cases that the district attorney’s office ultimately declined to prosecute under District Attorney George Gascón’s new soft-on-crime special directives. When Gascón took office in December 2020, he vowed to stop prosecuting juveniles as adults or pursuing sentences of life in prison without parole. However, he later said he would review the specific circumstances of each case before making a judgment. “There’s no deterrence in this current scheme,” Villanueva said. “We have to have teeth in what we’re doing.” “The deputies are going to continue doing their job, they make the arrests, they’ll write the reports, but then what happens after it’s submitted to the D.A is where it all falls apart,” he added. Villanueva said his department does not have a working relationship with the DA’s office and that he has never met Gascón in public, having only ever had one phone call with him (National Review). Fox News: “Astonishing number of cases,” said Villanueva. “These are people that did bad things that left a victim, have the evidence presented and they said ‘don’t bother,’” he continued (Fox News). Breitbart: A campaign to force a recall election of George Soros-backed Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón has gathered 400,000 signatures, more than two-thirds of the number necessary, as public outrage against crime continues to grow (Breitbart). More: The campaign needs 566,857 signatures — 10% of registered voters — by the July 6 deadline to put the recall question on November’s ballot (Fox News).

Boeing Leaving Chicago Due to Crime Spike

National Review: Boeing, the world’s third-largest defense contractor and a famous maker of passenger jets, is moving its headquarters from Chicago to Arlington, Va. The move comes as Chicago is increasingly ravaged by crime and random drive-by shootings in the middle of downtown. In recent weeks, the theater district in downtown Chicago has had to shut down plays because the area has become so unsafe at night. Crime in Chicago is up 35 percent this year compared with the same period in 2021. Theft is up by 67 percent (National Review).

CNN Poll: SCOTUS Leak Has Not Changed Projections for Midterms

Hot Air’s John Sexton: I’m sure this will come as a complete shock to some people but it doesn’t to me. Pro-life voters just learned they are on the cusp of winning a battle they have been fighting for nearly 50 years. Of course they are feeling enthusiastic. Democrats on the other hand just learned they are losing the same battle after just as many years so of course they’re not feeling overwhelmed with enthusiasm… The outrage on the left may drive some enthusiasm but just as likely there will be a surge of activity on the right from people who had felt discouraged and had given up but who are now feeling some hope. Even the CNN poll suggests something like that may be happening. It’s true that it found 66% oppose striking down Roe but that number is actually down since the leaked draft decision. The percentage who support overturning Roe went form 30% to 34% since the leak. That number could continue to grow as more people learn what the decision would actually mean as opposed to just hearing that Democrats are furious (HotAir). Interactive Polls: Republican Enthusiasm Advantage INCREASED by 2 points after SCOTUS leak (Twitter).
