Let’s be clear, folks: Your access to an abortion shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code or the amount of money you have in your bank account. And the same goes for contraception.

That’s just one of the many reasons why the Supreme Court’s looming decision to potentially overturn Roe v. Wade is so awful.

But I am grateful that New Mexico is a pro-choice state. We will proudly be a haven for those seeking abortions from nearby restrictive states like Texas and Arizona.

This didn’t happen overnight. Over the last few years, I've been proud to organize alongside reproductive rights advocates to help elect pro-choice Democrats to the New Mexico legislature and get an archaic abortion law off the books.

Last year, the legislature finally repealed the state’s outdated abortion ban and passed the Respect New Mexico Women and Families Act to keep reproductive healthcare decisions in the hands of women and their doctors.

Thanks to Democrats in the New Mexico legislature, abortion will remain legal in New Mexico even if Roe is overturned.

Will you join me in thanking our pro-choice, Democratic New Mexico Legislature for proactively repealing the state abortion ban and protecting the right to choose? You can sign the thank you card here:
