Friend,
On the heels of the leaked draft decision of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, I’ve been thinking a lot about motherhood. About what it means, and who gets to decide.
My mom, Jerri-Ann, is one of the most amazing and hardest-working people I know. She dedicated her adult life to raising me and my three siblings. It was hard, constant work (we were an energetic bunch), and it was work that she chose and that she loved.
I’m so grateful for everything my mom did for me, for all the sacrifices she made, all the lunches she packed and sports teams she coached. And that’s why I know that no one should be forced to be a mother if it isn’t the right decision for them.

So today, I’m thinking of all the mothers and mother figures across the country who do the incredibly important and difficult work of raising the next generation. And I’m more committed than ever to making sure that people can become parents when and how they choose, or if they choose not to at all.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Warmly,
