I’ll make this quick because we don’t have a single second to waste.

When I heard the news that the Supreme Court plans to overturn Roe v. Wade, I felt a deep sense of anger and sadness. This is a terrible setback, and I can’t believe my kids will live in a country where they have fewer rights than I or my mother did.

The court’s draft decision is an assault on our freedom not just to bodily autonomy, but to economic security as well. But this isn’t the end of the fight.

We must come together and do everything we can to protect Americans’ right to a safe and legal abortion. And right now, one of the best ways to guarantee every person has the right to choose is to protect and build our state legislative majorities.

For years, Republican lawmakers have pushed through unconstitutional legislation that would ban abortions, restrict access to health care, and make it harder to vote – all in the hope that a right-wing Supreme Court will rubber-stamp their agenda. And now, they have. This ruling shatters decades and decades of precedent.

This is just the beginning– which is why I need to be crystal clear: We’re witnessing a horrific right-wing attack that begins in our states. If we don’t ramp up our efforts to recapture statehouses, we could very well watch abortion rights, voting rights, and LGBTQ+ rights crumble away in a matter of months.
