The Republican convention here in Connecticut just wrapped up – and the right-wing extremism that's taken root in the GOP across the country was on full display. Republicans here and across the country are trying to not only move us backward, but propel a twisted ideology that the vast majority of Americans reject. They are hellbent on taking back majorities in Congress to put their dangerous agenda into action.

With the Senate GOP's campaign arm sitting on more than $44 million in cash and Mitch McConnell's super PAC ready to flood the airwaves with misinformation, we must be more prepared than ever to fight off their attacks and defend Connecticut's must-win Senate seat. In a moment like this, we can't take any Democratic seat for granted.

We know Mitch McConnell and the GOP will soon pull out every trick in their dirty campaign playbook to try and defeat us. They'll try to paint Sen. Blumenthal as radical. They'll distort and brazenly lie about his record. But with supporters like you fighting alongside us, we'll win. Supporters who know the truth: that Sen. Blumenthal has made it his life's mission to fight for the people of Connecticut and move the needle on issues that will improve life in our state, our country, and our world.

As a member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Sen. Blumenthal leads the charge on common sense gun safety reform to save lives, has worked to uphold the rule of law in the face of vicious attacks from Donald Trump and his allies, and has helped put brilliant, fair-minded judges on the bench – including groundbreaking appointees like Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Blumenthal recently traveled to the Ukrainian border with Poland, where he affirmed our solidarity and support with the Ukrainian people. He will always remain committed to protecting our national security and holding bad actors accountable at home and abroad.

And with women's healthcare in peril like never before, you can be sure Sen. Blumenthal will continue to lead the fight to protect and defend the fundamental human rights of American women to make their own personal decisions about their own bodies.

Now is not the time for inexperience or someone who will vote with McConnell to support the twisted ideology of an increasingly extremist Republican Party. And now is certainly not the time to let our guard down when it comes to protecting Democratic Senate control and driving progress for our nation. Not when two GOP senators are already talking about a nationwide ban on abortion if Roe v. Wade is struck down this summer.

So today, as our opponent will surely rally the national Republican establishment against us, we're asking for grassroots support from people like you.
