Hi there, I'm Chris' mom. To all the mothers reading this right now, I want to wish you a very happy Mother’s Day. If this is a sensitive holiday for you, I wish you peace and love today. To everyone else, give your mother a call!
I’ve lived in Arkansas my whole life. In fact, our family has lived here for more than 200 years…before it was even a state. Throughout my life I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to connect with our neighbors: As an educator, as a pastor, and as a small business owner.
While raising Chris and our family in Pine Bluff, we didn’t have a lot, but we -- like so many Arkansans -- worked hard and strived to give our children a better life. If there was one thing we certainly wanted to teach Chris, it was the value of treating neighbors like our own family.
Now I could not be more proud to watch Chris take that lesson and lead with faith, hard work, and hope as he runs for governor of our home state. I’m helping out in every way I can, I even baked six cakes for the staff this past week (including red velvet, caramel, and my famous pound cake).
He’s making our family’s experience, and the experiences of so many Arkansas families, front-and-center of this campaign. I particularly like his policy to improve salaries, resources, and retirement benefits for teachers -- but there are so many more that will improve the lives of mothers and families across our state.
Our family is the promise of Arkansas. We are all the promise of Arkansas. It’s about time that our leaders help all of us achieve our fullest potential, instead of making it even more out-of-reach.
Chris will fight for every single Arkansan like he fights for his own family -- because that’s what we’ve always done.
Thank you for reading today, and thank you for being a member of this family.
Happy Mother’s Day,
Beverly
