Dear Fellow American,

Two years ago, New York magazine posed the question: “When Did Everyone Become
a Socialist?”

To say “everyone” is a gross exaggeration. But it’s clear that socialism has
made—and continues to make—inroads in America, especially among the young.

Today, you can help Hillsdale College understand the extent of that support
and the amount of opposition to socialism. With your input, we can form the
most effective strategy in fighting for the future of liberty in our country.

Please give your views on the political, social, and cultural forces promoting
socialism in our country by completing your National Survey on Socialism using
the secure link below:

With your response, you will represent your state as part of a major sampling
of opinion that can help us more clearly understand mainstream Americans’
views—views that will interest policymakers and opinion leaders.

A recent poll showed that 70% of Millennials are either somewhat likely or
extremely likely to vote for candidates with socialist positions. We have seen
some of this in recent elections.

Why is this?

For one thing, too many young Americans have not been taught what socialism
really means or the dismal history of its failures wherever it has been tried.

For another, too many are no longer being taught about America’s great
heritage of liberty and the importance of the Constitution to freedom.

This is because of the “progressive” Left’s increasing success in hijacking
American education at both the K-12 and college levels.

The New York Times’ “1619 Project” is a prime example of this. The mainstream
media praised this effort to subvert the proper teaching of American history,
and its lead essayist even won a Pulitzer Prize.

In the face of such well-financed efforts to indoctrinate the young and
undermine informed patriotism,Hillsdale’s educational outreach efforts have
never been more urgently needed.

By responding to the National Survey on Socialism, your honest opinions will
help us understand the recent rise of socialism and form the most effective
strategy toreach and teach increasing millions of Americans on behalf of
liberty.

We hope to hear from friends representing every part of the country—Americans
like you, who still revere our founding principles of liberty, as set forth in
the Declaration of Independence and underlying the Constitution.

As Winston Churchill said, “Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed
of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.”

If you agree, please represent your state and take the National Survey on
Socialism today.

In the face of recent successes by the Left, we must remember: it is never too
late to preserve and defend liberty through education.

Warm regards,
