Julie Enslow & George Martin

Militarism and the Climate

The two giant threats to life as we know it, how they are connected, and our responsibility to preserve the beauty and wonder of creation.

Julie Enslow has worked on peace, nuclear disarmament and environmental issues since the Vietnam War. She was a co-founder in 1977 of Mobilization for Survival (now Peace Action of Wisconsin) and has served as its program organizer, newsletter editor, and Steering Committee member. For the past eight years she has helped facilitate 350.org Milwaukee, the international climate action group.

George Martin, after a career in marketing and healthcare for the homeless, joined Peace Action of Wisconsin as Program Director in 2001.  He served as Co-Chair of national United for Peace and Justice for eight years during the Iraq War. He currently works with 350.org Milwaukee and serves on the Milwaukee County and City Task Force on Climate Change and Economic Equity.

Climate change is a threat multiplier. It makes all those other things we care about worse. And in 2022 one of the things at the front of our minds - thanks to the Russian invasion of Ukraine - is war. Could climate change really trigger conflict? What is the latest we understand about how global warming and global wars could feed off each other?

350MKE Fridays for Future

12:00 - 1:00 pm

Chase Bank
N Lydell Ave & W Silver Spring Dr

Chase and Wells Fargo are two names you see plastered on buildings as you move around the greater Milwaukee area.

Whether or not you have an account at these banks you can ask them to change, and you can make more people aware of their role in damaging the climate.

Join us Friday to help get the word out.

Do you see Chase Bank in the image?
Here's hoping you'll join us TOMORROW!

We have signs, or bring your own!
